Topic/Skill: State and local government in the U.S.

Feedback provided to tutee: As a continuation of our lesson last week on the federal government, I provided my tutee with descriptions of important state and local government positions. We discussed the role of each position in our community and, when applicable, how they relate to the federal positions we discussed last week. 

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned the importance of reviewing previous lessons and creating connections between new lessons and old lessons when possible. My tutee understood new positions we discussed much more easily when we compared them to federal positions he now already knew. By emphasizing that this new lesson was only building on prior knowledge my tutee was also more confident throughout the whole lesson.
