Topic/Skill: Speaking and creating arguments

Feedback provided to tutee: Ahmed and I discussed the role of FSU sports in the Tallahassee economy and community as a whole, and the difficulties that come with the football season in the wake of COVID-19. I had Ahmed speak to different arguments regarding whether or not the football season should continue. We discussed vocabulary such as "hypocritical" and cultural information regarding the role of sports in American society.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned how connecting lessons to the students' immediate environment increases intrinsic motivation. While Ahmed is not passionate about sports in general, by tying this topic to Tallahassee and FSU specifically, he was now connected to the topic and more interested in participating in the activity.
