Topic: The letter 'S' and conjunctions

For this session, my tutee and I focused on the letter 'S' and briefly touched on conjunctions. My tutee has a section of her wall dedicated to most of the letters of the alphabet. Each letter is shaped like something that the letter starts with (P is a peacock, R is a rainbow, G is a giraffe, etc.) but she does not have the letters 'S' through 'Z'. She asked if we could cut out the letter 'S' so she could add it to her wall. She originally wanted to make it into a strawberry, but then we decided to make it into a snake because it would be easier. She made the snake in the shape of an 'S', cut it out, and colored it in. She then wanted to go onto the letter 'T', but I convinced her to wait until our next meeting to do 'T' and instead we went over a list of nouns, verbs, and adjectives that start with the letter 'S'. As our time wrapped up, we watched the conjunction video by Schoolhouse Rock! which I figured would be easy for her to grasp in the last ten minutes because there are only three conjunctions. Next session we will be going over conjunctions again and the letter 'T'.
