Today we worked on reading comprehension by doing the lesson I had planned for my final teaching project for this TEFL certificate course. We began by discussing National Parks. I showed him some pictures of different parks around the US and asked if he had ever been or heard of these places. Then we discussed whether or not he thought it would be safe to travel to these parks during the COVID-19 Pandemic. He then read an article written by the BBC about this subject. The goal was to build schema so that he would better comprehend the reading. It was followed by comprehension questions about the article.
