Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:
For this session, I had Dave read a short story on space and had him answer some questions based on the story. I asked him what words he had issues with and explained to him what they meant regarding the story. The words he had difficulty with were 'scientific, imaging, planet, nature, glazed, and weather.'
After this, we went into the lesson of teaching him the six parts of speech. I first asked him what he knew about them, he said he did know what it was but not in detail. It was not until I listed them to him what they were that he was able to learn easier. I gave him examples of each part of speech and had him give his own example in the chat to write. He had some difficulties with writing his sentences such as saying, 'I traveled New Orleans', or 'He played game'. It was something to keep in mind with him to teach in future classes. If anything I learned from this experience is that I needed to practice patience with him when he had difficulty with a certain topic.
I gave him homework to write six different sentences that utilize all of the parts of speech we learned.
