Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:
At the beginning of this essay, I decided to have a simple conversation with Radhim in order to get him out of his shell. He seemed to respond to it well from the questions I asked him and spoke more than if I were to have a normal study session. This showed me that I was not upholding a 'chill' atmosphere that I claimed to hold in order to have Radhim feel comfortable. This can be said for any student I come into contact with, I do not want to intimidate my students to a point where they do not want to speak up.
After that, Radhim had an essay that he turned in beforehand for me to give criticism on. I first taught him the importance of transitional phases in essay writing. I then taught him the importance of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person writing and when to use them. Once I covered that we went line by line to rephrase according to what I have taught him. I made sure that he finds his own mistakes, which he did fairly well. I gave him tips on how not to write very long sentences in his essays and use the right vocabulary.
