Location: In Our Homes

The topic discussed: BLM, race in America, Netflix

Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned:

For this meeting, Hangah and I talked about how the BLM movement is still continuing to move forward and the change that has occurred from it. I informed her of the historical events that have occurred in relation to racism and the continuing wealth gap. Such as during most elections, Republicans would participate in voter suppression to stop people of color from voting. This leeway into a conversation on what states to live based upon the political climate and social acceptance. We also agreed on how difficult it was to find a job to be able to visit these states and get out of our homes.

She told me that she was finally able to go eat at Popeyes, she loved it. I was so happy considering that she wants to find fried chicken that is most similar to her the fried chicken found in her home country Korea. Hangah also told me that she was able to watch 'The Office', again she loved it, her favorite episode was the fire safety episode which is the same one I loved.

After we discussed what shows we loved to watch I asked her about applying to the EPIK program. I informed her of my anxiety when applying considering that I am from a country where COVID-19 cases are rising. She was able to give me some motivation and informed me that it will not be that difficult to get a spot in the program.
