This morning I had my 7th tutoring session with my tutee. We had a tutoring session last night which didn't go as well as I had hoped so for this session I prepared a full in depth plan based off a modified version of one of the listening lessons I made a few weeks ago.
I started by explaining a few vocabulary words, which my tutee was mostly familiar with, as well as some of the phrases and figures of speech that may not have been easily intelligible. The later of these seemed to be more of a learning area for my tutee.
Once we had gone through all this vocabulary I played a 5 minute video of a short story which included much of the previously taught language. My tutee understood the majority of it but asked for a 2nd viewing before answering questions. We went over the video a 2nd time before I asked comprehension questions. At the end of class my tutee asked that I send him the video for further viewing as he had enjoyed it so much. My hope is to do more sessions in a similar manor to this in the future.
