During this tutoring session with Hongru, I started off with a worksheet of mixed tenses. The format of the worksheet was a list of sentences with blanks spaces in which the student must insert the correct verb conjugation using context clues. The infinitive of the verb was given in parentheses at the end of each sentence. Hongru was quite quick to fill in the blank correctly with a number of the sentences, but failed to produce the correct answer on many other. Irregular verbs such as "to see" gave him particular trouble. After the worksheet, we continued to read The Strange Library and I continued to coach him on diction and word stress and to explain as best as I could each new vocabulary word.
