Topic/Skill: Writing a formal email

Feedback provided to tutee: My conversation partner asked me to help her write a formal email to advisors in her upcoming law program. We discussed headings, conclusions, and word choice that is important when distinguishing between an informal and a formal email.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that in Turkey most communication, even formal, is done through texting on Whatsapp. I found this really surprising since texting is considered such an informal form of communication in the U.S. Kubra learned how different verb tenses can be used to sound more or less polite/formal, for example, asking "could you do X" as compared to "are you able to do X".
