Today was my first tutoring session with my tutee. I ran a diagnostic questionnaire and asked her questions about where she is from and why she is learning English. She is from South Korean and only knows Korean and a little bit of English. She is only seven years old, but she is absolutely adorable and wants to speak English better so she can converse with her friends at school more efficiently. She likes reading beginner books about unicorns and her favorite color is rainbow! After the diagnostics, I had her read a short paragraph and answer questions about it so I could better gauge her speaking and comprehension skills. Then we did some dictation where I said a sentence out loud and she typed it into the chat box and I gave her corrections. She kept forgetting to put a '.' at the end of her sentences so we went over punctuation marks and watched a Schoolhouse Rock video on interjections. We ended the session with fun tongue twisters. Next time, I think we will work on writing and listening to different words.
