During this conversation partner meeting with Khalil, we talked about 'Eid al Fitr, the holy day that occurs at the end of Ramadan. Khalil recounted eating lots of desserts with his family at Tom Brown park for the evening meal of that special occasion. Next, Khalil asked me to help him sort out the structure of certain common questions one might ask in a store. I taught him to say "Excuse me, could you please tell me where the __ is/are?" I also taught him how to say "Could you please tell me how much this costs?" and "Do you have these shoes in size eleven?" I also took a little time to help him pronounce the phoneme /p/ and he was quite successful in producing the sound. Khalil struggled with putting some of the sentences together but he is clearly improving and I think this conversation was great practice for him.
