Joseph Canter CP #2

Khalil was apologetic about missing the last tutoring session and made a good effort to use his English speaking skills to the best of his ability. He is not yet very fluent and there were a number of communication breakdowns. However, he seems to be improving and at times he is able to produce sentences with greater fluency and fairly accurate grammar. He asked that I correct this grammar and pronunciation, so I had to interrupt him fairly frequently in order to point out errors and model the correct construction of various sentences. Khalil told me about the fasting practiced during Ramadan and we also discussed the Covid lock-down situation. He and his wife and children are living in Tallahassee and they are eager to get back to Saudi Arabia so that they can see their other relatives such as parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. He asked me if there was a language program in Tallahassee where his ten-year-old son could study Japanese. I didn't know, but I told him that I'd ask around and get back to him about it during the next CP meeting.
