My conversation partner's name is Kalil Alhashim. He is from Saudi Arabia. I was impressed by his ability to converse in English, especially since he said it was one of the first face-to-face conversations he'd had with a native English speaker. He had a very strong Arabic accent but was mostly fairly easy to understand. It might be beneficial for him to practice making the unvoiced 'p' sound to avoid mixing up certain words in English. Arabic only has the voiced bilabial plosive 'b'  and lacks 'p' and Khalil would tend to pronounce a word like pet as 'bet'. I spent most of the session asking about his life and aspirations. He has a bachelors degree in accounting from an institute in Saudi Arabia and wants to get his masters in accounting at FSU after he graduates from the CIES program. After that, he wants to return to Saudi Arabia and use his English skills and Master's degree to get a better paying job. I corrected him a few times on the future continuous tense construction found in the sentence "I will be getting my Master's degree." Khalil did a great job of practicing his English conversation skills.
