Professor Felicia Ciappetta 

Classroom Management: Friendly with Authority 

Materials: SpeechAce

Student Participation: Professor Ciappetta started her class with some funny interactions. She pointed to her pinkie, earlobe and nostrils and waited patiently as the students tried to accurately describe the body part. The students all were very close and she encouraged another try which gave them time to get it correctly. For the second half of the class, she showed the students a program called SpeechAce, which has the students listen and repeat a sentence in English. She continuously checked in to ensure that they were doing okay.

Feedback: I enjoyed listening in on this class because I got to see a class that is not as structured and allows the student to work at their own pace. I understand that not all students learn well from only listening, some learn best from doing. 

Lesson on Teaching I Learned: I learned about a new site called SpeechAce. This site seems like it will be beneficial for those who are trying to perfect their pronunciation. This is something I would like to incorporate into my classes.
