Topic/Skill: Aziz and I started our tutoring session with a conversation about her needs as an English language learner. I asked her some questions about her personal life to get to know him a little bit more and then we talked about our experiences with language learning. He talked briefly about his language learning experience in Saudi Arabia versus his experience in the US and it helped me understand what his needs are. He expressed that he struggled most with writing and wants to focus on preparing for the timed writing portion of the TOEFL

Feedback provided: Honestly, Aziz and I mostly talked and got to know each other for this session. He seems  be very comfortable with speaking and is eager to learn more through these sessions.

Lessons I learned: It's important to know what English learning experience each tutee has so that you can assess what has worked and not worked for them in the past.
