My conversation partner and I discussed the movie, The Green Mile, today. We had planned to meet last week, but she had a headache and I had a lot on my plate so we met via Zoom instead. We had agreed to watch the movie on our own time and then discuss it in our meeting. This was my second time watching the movie and her first time. I made my roommates watch it with me which didn't make them happy, but I said it was an American classic so they had to watch it. My conversation partner really enjoyed the movie, even though it made her sad. We discussed the characters and their development, the history of the movie, and the history of the American prison system. Once I shared with her the history of the American prison system, she shared some information with me about the Chinese prison system. For our next meeting, we will be watching Shawshank Redemption and discussing it.
